|Dr H.L. Premaratne wins the Presidential Awards for Scientific Research 2003-2006|
Dr H.L. Premaratne, Senior Lecturer of UCSC won the Presidential Award for Scientific Research based on this research publication on the “H.L.Premaratne and J.Bigun, A segmentation-free approach to recognise printed Sinhala script using linear symmetry, Pattern Recognition, Vol. 37, pp 2081-2089, 2004”. This award is given for recognition of authors pursing research in Sri Lankan institution for their publications which have effectively appeared in the Science Citation Index of 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. This is selected by the National Research Council in Sri Lanka. The awards ceremony was organized by the National Research Council jointly with the Presidential Secretariat and was held on 27th July 2010 at the Temples trees. Over 380 scientists and researchers who carried out outstanding research in various fields were recognized by HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksaat this ceremony.
