JICA Project (2002-2005; 2005-2010)

The ADMTC (Advance Digital Media Technology Centre) was established in May 2002 under ICT (Institute of Computer Technology) in order to implement the three year JICA technical corporation project on “Project for human resource development in information technology through Capacity building of the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC)” - (UCSC was established in September 2002) which was successfully conducted from June 2002 to May 2005.
This project had three major components.

1.      The establishment of Multimedia Laboratories.
2.      Training of trainers and content developers for web based training and e-learning.
3.      Strengthening the research and development capabilities.

Subsequently in September 2005, JICA and the UCSC agreed to corporate each other in organizing a 5 year series of training programs in the field of e-learning technology (5 Third Country Training Programmes (TCTP) and 10 In-Country Training Programmes (ICTP)) in order to disseminate the knowledge accumulated under the aforementioned project.  The purpose of these courses is to provide the participants from Asian and African countries an opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in the field of e-learning technology.

We successfully completed all the prograames (Trained 169 local and 80 foreign students)and handed over the final reports to JICA on 31st March 2010.
